From April 2 to 4, 2025, the international exhibition and conference PowerTech 2025 is taking place in Almaty, serving as a dialogue platform for discussions on decarbonization, renewable energy development, and energy efficiency in Central Asia.
On April 3, as part of the business program, a session titled “Overview of the Renewable Energy Market in Central Asia” was held, moderated by Ramazan Zhanpiisov, Advisor to the General Director of the ECOJER Association.
Zhomart Mominbayev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TechnoGroupService LLP, was invited as a speaker and presented on the topic “Development of Renewable Energy and Domestic Manufacturing in the Republic of Kazakhstan.” In his speech, he outlined current priorities in the sector, emphasizing the importance of strengthening national capabilities in renewable energy equipment manufacturing, enhancing export potential, and focusing the support measures of Baiterek National Managing Holding JSC on renewable energy projects that use domestically produced generation equipment.
Other speakers included: Igor Novikov, Director and Head for Central Asia at Cranmore Partners; Yerlan Akhmettayev, Senior Research Analyst at the S&P Global "Eurasian Energy" team; Ruslan Sadgalin, Project Manager at Ernst & Young; Vladimir Zavadskiy, Senior Energy Expert at CAREC Institute; and Dias Bayseitov, Founder of KunTech.
Participation in PowerTech 2025 allowed TechnoGroupService LLP to present its vision for sustainable development and localization in the renewable energy sector, while also highlighting the importance of regional cooperation in achieving common climate goals. Zhomart Mominbayev also proposed using the abbreviation I-REC.KZ to refer to voluntary certificates from renewable energy sources that use domestically manufactured generation equipment.
