Partner of "TechnoGroupService" LLP Zhomart Mominbayev spoke at Energy Week Central Asia & Caspian 2024, held in Astana on September 5-6, 2024. This annual event brings together representatives of government bodies, large companies, as well as international investors and technology developers. In his speech, Zhomart Mominbayev emphasized the importance of developing renewable energy in Kazakhstan and Central Asia in line with the goals set by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. These goals include increasing GDP, developing domestic energy engineering, achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, and utilizing local components and materials.
During his address, Zhomart Mominbayev also cited China's successful experience. Thanks to large-scale investments and government support, China exceeded its renewable energy targets six years ahead of schedule, reaching 1,200 GW of renewable energy capacity in July 2024. Of the 163 GW of wind energy capacity, 97 GW, or 60%, is localized in China. In the solar module manufacturing sector, of the 461 GW of installed capacity, China controls 400 GW, or 86.7%.
In conclusion, Zhomart Mominbayev noted that to achieve Kazakhstan's ambitious goals, it is essential to support and develop domestic production of renewable energy technologies. This will not only accelerate the transition to "green" energy but also provide Kazakhstan with a competitive advantage in the Central Asian region. Special attention should be given to issues of financing, industry guarantees, and export support, including the creation of export cartels to implement turnkey renewable energy projects.
